Planning Board:
About
The five member Planning Board oversees land use issues including, subdivision creation, zoning implementation and site plan review. In general, the Planning Board has two main functions: to develop planning objectives and the procedures to implement those objectives through the drafting and submission of amendments to the local zoning by-law; and to administer the Subdivision Control Law, G.L. c. 41, §§ 81K-BB, which governs the development of new roads and housing. The Subdivision Rules and Regulations, developed by the Planning Board, establish the procedures and design standards to be followed when land is divided and new ways are constructed. The Planning Board is also responsible for conducting Site Plan reviews of new commercial and industrial projects and for issuing Special Permits for certain uses.
