Open Space Committee:
Open Space and Recreation Plan
The Plympton Open Space Committee (POSC) and the Old Colony Planning Council (OCPC) have recently completed a draft of an Open Space and Recreation Plan (OSRP) for Plympton, which is to be submitted to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs in late summer/early fall of 2009. The OSRP is a vitally important planning tool that the town can use to help preserve its character and quality of life as this relates to open space, historical sites, and recreation. Having an updated and approved OSRP on file with the state also qualifies the town to receive special grants that can be used to help fund the purchase of open space.
The POSC is soliciting public comment on the plan draft from Plympton residents and other interested parties before final submittal to the state in August of 2009. To facilitate this, the complete draft is available below. Additionally, there are hard copies available at the town house and the library. People may submit comments in one or more of the following ways:
1. In writing to the Plympton Open Space Committee, Plympton Town House, Plympton MA 02367
2. In person at an open meeting to be held on Wednesday, August 5th at 7pm at the Town House.
All written comments should be submitted prior to August 5th so that they may be fully considered before the meeting.
The POSC encourages residents to read the plan and submit comments or suggestions - all input will be considered and incorporated into the plan.
