Memorial Day

A closely held tradition in Plympton is the annual Memorial Day parade and Ceremonies. The Parade begins in front of the Historical Society Building on Main Street and winds its way to the gazebo on the Town Green. Sixth graders read three documents: The Gettysburg Address, In Flanders Field, and an original essay, What Memorial Day Means to Me, authored by the student who recites it. After the readings and some other ceremonial events, such as performances by local school or scouting groups, a small flag is placed by each veteran's grave.
