Historical Commission:
About

The five member Plympton Historical Commission is the municipal agency responsible for ensuring that preservation concerns are considered in community planning and development decisions. The Commission serves as a local preservation advocate and as an important resource for information about Plympton's cultural resources and preservation activities. The Plympton Historical Commission will, for example, seek preservation grants on behalf of the town, update and maintain the survey of the town's historic assets, serve as consultants to town government, and notify the state of sites of archaeological importance. The commission also administers the town's demolition delay bylaw, which provides for a eighteen-month delay in the issuance of a demolition permit for buildings that are both older than 75 years and determined by the commission to be "preferably preserved." The commission endeavors to work closely with Plympton's residents and town government to preserve our town's historic character.
